Dory Fishing

Cape Kiwanda, Oregon

We have over 30 years of experience operating and fishing out of Pacific City from dories. We specialize in saltwater fly fishing for a large variety of species including salmon, rockfish and ling cod.

Your ocean adventure begins by launching through the surf, where timing is everything and adrenaline runs high as we accelerate over the waves and head out for an adventure filled day. The start to the day is definitely exciting but it’s just the beginning as we enter the offshore world, where you never know what we’ll see. Depending on the day we may be chasing rockfish with clousers or top water flies with 6 to 8 weight rods, Ling cod with fast sinking lines and flies on 9 and 10 weight rods, or bucktailing and casting to coho (silver) salmon that are known for aggressive takes and want nothing more than to destroy your fly and test your drag.

Season

* The prime dory season runs from May – September

Summer Steelhead

Rogue River

It’s difficult to find a place as pretty as the Rogue River valley covered in fall colors.

Each day we drift 4-7 miles of the middle Rogue, which is perfectly set up to swing flies for beautiful Summer Steelhead. This is your chance to chase after Steelhead in a place full of history with dry lines and skaters or traditional flies.

Season

* October – November

Winter Steelhead

North Oregon Coast

I don’t think there’s a better way to chase anadromous fish than with a two handed rod and a swung fly. Our primary focus is on the north Oregon Coast where there’s great diversity in each watershed to ensure we can find the perfect river to fish most days throughout the often, unpredictable winter months. Depending on the watershed, and plan for the day we will drift 5-8 miles with access to prime runs to intercept these amazing fish that are fresh from the ocean and ready to test you and your gear as they intercept your fly.

Season

*Winter Steelhead January – April
